About Doug
I grew up in Bellingham, WA, and graduated from Bellingham High School. While growing up, I had a 135-home paper route. I enjoyed being part of the Bellingham Rifle Club and the Chinook Bowmen Archery Club. I was on the YMCA swim team and also was an Eagle Scout. I got the motorcycle bug at 15 and had several street and dirt bikes. My last bike was a 100th Anniversary Harley Davidson Vrod. While riding dirt bikes was an obsession to the point of skipping school, I had mediocre success in motocross. Forty-five minutes of muscle torture is a long time! I finished a 135-mile enduro called the Cowbell, which was also a bit strenuous. I initially enrolled at the University of Washington but decided to transfer to Western Washington University after one quarter to pursue personal interests in Bellingham. Eventually, I transferred to WSU and graduated in 1976 with a degree in Business Administration.
In 1978, I moved to Olympia, got my real estate license, and now, the rest is history! I married my wife Jamie in 1983 and had two sons, Kyle and Cory. While raising the boys, we enjoyed traveling in our motorhome, most of the time hauling our jet ski or quads. Our favorite place to go was the Oregon coast, Canon Beach in particular. One summer, we took an extended trip to the Grand Canyon in the motorhome and down into Arizona to visit my parents in Cottonwood. We then returned up the coast to Disneyland and several other tourist destinations.
Cory works with me as a broker on the WEBREALTY Team. Kyle lives in Portland and works as a human factor’s specialist at Facebook. They both have two children, so we have been grandparents four times. And that's my story!
